
California based processors manufacturer, AMD has announced its new range of six-core Opetron processor with very low power utilization of 40 Watts. According to the 2nd largest computer processor seller, this processor will have six true cores.
According to AMD, this new chip is intended for the servers that are mostly used for cloud computing, and will deliver more performance with minimum power utilization, It also has better virtualization support, better support of database, emails and other application serving.
By introducing this low-powered processor in its portfolio, AMD will be in more easy position to compete with the server chip giant Intel, which is going to launch its new 8-core Nehalem processor in early 2010.
