According to a statement recently issued by PTA, a telecoms regulatory body in Pakistan, it is going to launch 3G technology in the country very soon. The launch of 3G service in Pakistan is long overdue and will serve as a major breakthrough in adding more value to the cellular services in Pakistan which has already seen tremendous growth during some last years.

Pakistan’s telecom sector has very good future prospects, as there are many companies in this sector currently working in Cellular, WLL, LDI, Local Loop services, the country has shown tremendous growth in its teledensity which has reached 62 percent (as of May 2009).

PTA has also other different plans for future, like its working on introducing a SIM verification service, control the illegal voice traffic in Pakistan and to provide other advanced telecom services in the country.
