In a recent development, top US communication regulator ‘Federal Communications Commission’ (FCC) has put up some proposals to make sure that the internet is open for all type of communication, this policy will ensure that internet traffic if not blocked on the basis of content type.

Some of the internet service providers worldwide especially the ISP’s in US have been monitoring and managing traffic on the basis of its contents, the filtration of web contents is done to either totally block it or slowing it down. There are also some reservations by ISP’s regarding heavy web contents like online videos, which in their opinion, makes it inevitable to monitor and manage the web traffic to avoid network choking.

Some of the voice traffic provider companies have also shown their reservations on internet traffic management by ISP’s, and these web based calling services are expecting some change in the current restrictions and rules adopted by the ISP’s to block or slow down their voice traffic.

In our opinion, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is moving in right direction by planning to introduce net neutrality rules, many people and public interest groups have welcomed this plan. Implementation will help protect the general public interest, consumers and internet users will feel more independence on internet and will get a major advantage for their personal or business use of internet.

We hope that the strong implementation of planned rules will be a great step forward for ‘Open Internet’ initiative, and will also ensure the freedom of speech and expression for general public on the web.
