Samba 4 is ready to be deployed in near future samba 4 has rich features like support of the ‘Active Directory’ logon and administration protocols, full NTFS semantics for sharing backends, Internal LDAP server with Kerberos server. Samba 4 project goal is Active Directory implementation with samba based Domain controller.

The pupose of AD integration with DC is to join Win2000/2003 servers in samba 4 domain as member servers just like windows 2000/2003 server’s Active Directory.The development of samba 4 is in process and not ready for ofiicial release, but current source can be downloaded for testing from samba’s Git repository from link
