McAfee, top anti-virus software company provides free tool ‘Stinger’, which lets you scan and remove Viruses and Trojans from your PC that are difficult to remove using normal anti-virus software.

Stinger is a small utility that can be used to clean infected systems, it uses next generation scan engine technology, and it has process scanning, digitally signed DAT (virus definition file used by McAfee) and other scan performance optimizations. Its interface is very simple and easy to use, you can view a list of viruses that can be detected and removed by clicking the Viruses button.

Stinger runs on Microsoft Windows ME, XP and Vista, it is not an alternate to anti-virus softwares, but it will lets you clean the infected files which cannot be repaired by standard anti-virus softwares, a wide spread infection over the network can be averted by this software. Although McAfee does not provide support for this free product, but it is recommended that you scan your computer using this utility on periodical basis to clean any infected files on your PC.
