In a latest development, IBM has recently announced that it will be launching a new mail service for corporate world, the service will be low-priced then Google mail. Google Apps has faced many outages recently, will IBM able to capitalize on those downtimes?

According to IBM spokesman, it has plans to launch ‘LotusLive iNotes’ within few days, IBM will charge $36 per user for a year, very low in price in comparison with Google’s email service. IBM has a wide range of software products portfolio, which includes a complete mailing system ‘Lotus Notes’, which is in the market since a long time, and has a very strong base in the corporate workgroup market.

Google might feel the real heat when this service will be launched in near future, it will also face tough competition from Microsoft, which is also going to launch its web-based email service targeted for the business world.

No doubt IBM and Microsoft both have wide experience in workgroup solutions, but the web based email solutions differ from that of workgroup solutions for corporate sector, IBM has no previous experience in web-based email market, whereas Microsoft has already a strong base in web-based email market in form of its ‘Live’ and ‘Hotmail’ products.

As compare to IBM, Microsoft is in a better position to challenge the recently created monopoly of Google in this market segment, but Google now has a strong foothold in corporate world and a fierce competition between both of these IT giants can be expected in near future for the best corporate sector email service provider.
