According to a recent survey conducted by European Commission, very few companies are prepared for the switching to the new IP protocol regime, IPv6. IPv4 is currently the most-widely used IP naming protocol, which could run out of internet addresses within the next two years.
Companies have to migrate to the new platform on priority basis to avoid the situation in which internet could run out of available IP addresses. IPv4 and IPv6 are the protocols that are used to assign the IP addresses to the resources on network, which is a base for creating web addresses.
Migration to IPv6 is quite straight forward and foundations have been laid for the new implementation, but a huge investment is required by companies and ISP’s for its complete implementation.
